Arcfest Rule #2 - Don’t be That Guy!

So you’ve been thinking of going to a gaming event being run at ArcFest. But what sort of event will it be?

ArcFest has grown from the highly success format used by Arc40k - it’s been growing for more than 25 years based up 4 key principles.

Let's look at one of these golden rules and how it applies across ArcFest.

Codex Fez Rule #2 - "Don't be That Guy!"

Codex Fez is like the guidebook to what has made Arc40k a blast for everyone involved for more than 25 years…

ArcFest aims to deliver the same awesome experience for all the events being run under the new event umbrella. So this rule is another one of the principles that have made Arc40k a great event and it’s all about supporting good vibes and great sportsmanship.

Because really, who wants to be the guy who puts a damper on the whole weekend?

Across all the gaming events at ArcFest, sportsmanship is the name of the game. We hope that participation is mostly about hanging out with pals (old and new), rolling dice, and having an awesome time.

Fun fact: some of our legendary Champions got their titles not just for their tactics, but for being top-notch sports!

Now, picture this: you're in the heat of battle, navigating the deep and intricate world of your favorite tabletop game. It's a dance of rules, strategies, and surprises. And guess what? It's absolutely fine if your opponent, or even you, don’t to know every nook and cranny of those rules.

So here's the deal - please be cool, keep it chill, and if you're not sure about something… then just ask. Your opponent first and then your event organisers - we're all in this together!

It’s also good to remember that a little kindness goes a long way. If your opponent needs a hand understanding what's going down, take a breath, flash a smile, and give them the lowdown. And hey, asking them if they're all good with the info you’ve just explained can't hurt!

Sitting back and watching your opponent miss key things, setting the trap of asking them if they are done, and then moving in to exploit their mistakes isn’t how sporting players operate. You’re just being That Guy!

It’s a two way street and on the table top you need to work together with your opponent. Moving things on quickly and helping them to complete everything their turn requires as quickly as possible is the way to play fast, play for fun and be an absolute legend of sportsmanship!

Arc40k has always been about showcasing great sporting behaviour leading to fun filled weekends of gaming.

Let's clear something up: no one's playing for sheep stations here. Seriously, you're not!

The real treasure is in how you treat your opponents. Help them have a blast by letting them in on the action.

So the secret is that players who dive into the hobby, aiming for rad interactions with they people they are paired with, and taking the results of dice as they roll - they're the ones who walk away with the best stories and memories.

And guess what? They're also the ones racking up sportsmanship points, leaving the win-at-all-costs crew in the dust!

And when that dust settles and the games are done, make sure you're on great terms with your opponent. They're the ones giving you that sportsmanship score when it's time to tally up your ArcScore. Remember, ArcScore is our nifty app that tracks and scores your epic weekend at our event!

So, my friends, let's make this weekend unforgettable. Don't be That Guy. Be the legend who adds good vibes and sportsmanship to every game! 🎲🌟
