Arc40k 2024

For the past 25 years Arc40k has been driven by four core principles.

Put into writing in 2011 they are: Play for Fun, Paint your Army, Be a Good Winner, & Don’t be that Guy…

These Principles - dubbed Codex Fez by those organising the event at that time - have been the backbone of of what has become an Iconic weekend of gaming with painted models against the best of mates - both new found and decades long.

The best part of these principles extend far beyond the Warhammer 40,000 event that spawned them and they can be applied to a range of Table top Miniature games and the Hobby associated with it…

In this series of articles we take a look at some of the events at ArcFest, and how they are getting on board with the Codex Fez, to run events aimed squarely at having fun, with our painted models, against great mates.

Launching the 2024 edition of Australia’s Premier 40K event - Arc40k

Arc40k heads into its 26th year ready to take front and centre at the first ever ArcFest.

Arc40k is about Playing for Fun with Mates!

Best of all the same team who brought you the 25th Anniversary event last year are again on board to forge this new path into the future of hobby events.

Arc40k is just that, a Hobby Event where the champion is an all round participant - excelling in all aspects of scoring - not just great at battles but they are also a great opponent with a uniquely presented army.

The Army Points level of Arc40k has purposefully been smaller than other events over the years. Not only does this keep the event light hearted and very much not the Meta - but it allows players to have more time to lavish attention on a more concise selection of models.

The result for our event is that a majority will bring what is some of the best competitive hobby in the world.

Yes, I said it, the standard of hobby presented at Arc40k is world class - brought along by a band of regular people.

Our participant’s shouldn’t doubt themselves… Each year we see new player’s bring along maximum effort and quality in their display of hobby skill that also keeps our veterans continuing to push their own hobby efforts to the full extent of their skills. It’s not surprising to share that some of our most committed participants start preparing the day after an event finishes to get ready for the following year.

Another key part of Arc40k is that who we play is just as important as the army we field. This is an event where friendships have been forged across the table top and across the event. Many players will play a new mate or rekindle a friendship from battles past across their six battles on any given Arc40k weekend.

This is a key part of the Arc40k player experience. Especially when game wins seem so far away, there’s a fresh opponent with a bespoke mission to play. This is where anything can happen and frequently does at Arc40k - the challenge is real and enjoyment is never far away.

Everyone who’s played will have a day two anecdote to share about a close game against a great opponent.

The cornerstone of Arc40k has always been its traditions.

All the way back to 2003 the very first 5 Year Veterans were acknowledged and in the following 20 years we’ve inducted more than XX veterans.

This is a tradition that stand firm to this day. So for 2024 will see a new class of 5, 10, 15 & maybe even a 20 year veteran added to our rolls of honours. So this year’s batch of 5 Year Veterans will be added to the pre-sale ticket lists for 2025.

This year we will also induct two new members of the 40k community into the prestigious Arc40k Hall of Fame.

These heroes of the local community will have made a contribution to further the principles of Codex Fez across many years and many Arc40ks - many have had a lasting impact on the wider gaming community which exists and flourishes because of their efforts. This is what our Hall of Fame is all about.

Along with traditions of participation and commitment to the community, perhaps the one of biggest awards of the event will feature again in 2024. The Player’s Choice.

We are huge fans of letting the community decide what is cool, and which army is the best presented and displayed. This tradition enters its 22nd year, where all the players will vote for the army they want will win the most prestigious award in the Australian Hobby landscape - Arc40k Player’s Choice.

It's going to be an exciting year for Arc40k because along with all the things people have come to expect from participating at Arc40k we still may have some new and very exciting surprises up our sleeves to make it even better for 2024!
