Best Painted 2023

Mike Consto's Ork army has been making waves on Social Media in the lead up to this year’s Arc40k, and it's easy to see why. At this year's event, Mike's Ork army was crowned the winner of the Best Painted award, a well-deserved accolade for his impressive painting skills and mountain of work.

Mike's Ork army is a true labor of love, as he has been working on it in the months leading up to Arc40k. The army features a range of conversions and kit-bashed models, all of which have been expertly painted to bring out the unique character of each Ork.

What sets Mike's Ork army apart from others is his attention to detail. The models are not only painted to a high standard, but they are also full of character and personality. Each Ork has its own unique look and feel, from the Mighty Warboss in MegaArmour to the lowliest grot.

His Best Painted Award at Arc40k is a well-deserved recognition of his hard work and skill, and it's sure to inspire others to push the boundaries of their own painting abilities. He’s been sharing it on his own personal hobby account on instagram @brothercaptain_darko as well as on the Arc40k facebook.

The judges at the Arc40k event were particularly impressed with the army's consistency. The paint scheme is cohesive across the entire army, and each model is painted to the same high standard. This is no easy feat when painting an entire army, but Mike has clearly put in the time and effort to ensure that his Orks are a joy to behold.

The gritty earthiness of the yellow/tan colour sees the Bad Moon theme come to life in a more naturalistic finish - they are grim dark 40K Orks - rather than overly bright yellows of a traditional scheme. He’s certainly pulled off his interpretation of this popular Ork Clan.

But Mike's success at Arc40k goes beyond just his impressive painting skills. It's clear that Mike has a true passion for the hobby, and his dedication to his Ork army is a testament to that.

For those who are just starting out in the hobby, Mike's Ork army is a shining example of what can be achieved with consistency, patience, and a love for crafting to a theme. His success at Arc40k is a reminder that the tabletop gaming community is full of talented individuals who are passionate about their hobby, and that there is always room for growth and improvement.

Congratulations Mike on a great finished army and a well deserved win for Best Painted Army in 2023
