Risky Rollers

The world has changed in a lot of ways since 2020! For a small group of gamers in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne that change was quite significant. They came together between lockdowns to start a club - Bayside Tabletop.

Amongst this group were Dalton Nugent and Locky Betts, two friends who shared a passion for tabletop gaming and a vision for creating a successful YouTube channel - Risky Rollers!

As the group met between lockdowns for games and drinks, Dalton and Locky bonded over their shared goals of creating high-quality content with a competitive edge, and a focus on building a strong community.

They were joined by their third member of the team Laurence Gutierrez, and established themselves as the Risky Rollers! Talking to them it’s hard not to miss that this is a group of guys dedicated to providing the best possible content for every aspect of the hobby.

Greg from General Games Malvern joins RR for an upcoming HH Battle Report.

In July 2021, in partnership with Think Loud Creative for their production work they launched their YouTube channel with their first battle report and have been consistently improving the quality and variety of their content ever since, including branching out into podcasting, which is set to relaunch with a new look in the coming months.

A big part of their YouTube content are their hosted livestreams on Tuesday and Thursday nights, a video podcast every fortnight, and regular Horus Heresy battle reports.

A Risky Rollers battle report has a unique perspective with both players on the same side of the table, an overhead view keeps the viewer informed about where the models are on the table.

What you don’t always see - the full Risky Rollers Studio.

The gamers do a fantastic job talking viewers through which models are being used as well as the rules as they go. Clear camera shots, some metal music & sound effects, throw a little comedy into some of the intros and their videos are relaxed and easy to watch.

Risky Rollers also host a variety of competitive and casual events for players across multiple game systems, and they continue to run their local gaming club. They have already planned 19 events for 2023, including a 5-event championship series with a grand prize of $2,000.

But the biggest news from the Risky Rollers is that they will be joining us on the live stream, for the Arc40k Event weekend.

Streaming all of Arc40k is going to be a massive effort with upwards of 20 hours of potential live-time.

The stream will still be run by the team at Legends & Lore. But Risky Rollers will be adding their commentary, and joining in to make the live stream of the Arc40k Warhammer 40,000 tournament event weekend on 4-5 March 2023 a truly collaborative community event.

For Locky and Dalton, the journey has been a lot of hard work, but it's all been worth it to be able to share their passion for tabletop gaming with a wider audience.

The Risky Rollers are set to continue providing high-quality content and events for the gaming community for years to come.
